Huna is a Hawaiian word that means hidden or secret, in the sense of not easily seen. It can refer to anything but is generally used to label the subtle or esoteric wisdom of Hawaiian spirituality, especially the shamanic tradition from the island of Kauai.
That tradition was taught to Serge Kahili King over sixty years ago when Serge was "adopted" by the Kahili family, as his father had been. Serge learned in the old Hawaiian ways but now teaches the same material in a more easily accessible way for the Western-mind.
The essence of this teaching is embodied in Seven Principles based on seven Hawaiian words:
Ike The world is what you think it is.
Kala There are no limits.
Makia Energy flows where attention goes.
Manawa Now is the moment of power.
Aloha To love is to be happy with.
Mana All power comes from within.
Pono Effectiveness is the measure of truth.
Contained within these pages are articles, audio recordings, videos, and random thoughts on this remarkable spiritual system. There are no claims here of Eternal Truth or Cosmic Law. This is simply a very powerful system of self-empowerment and self-love. There is nothing here to tell you how to live. There's plenty of that on the Web. What is here are concepts, techniques, and lots of encouragement to be the authority in your own life and to craft your own happiness and well-being.
Adventures in Heart-Centerd Shamanism is a class taught monthly by Stewart at Kalani Honua that is grounded in Huna and freely draws from the teachings of Serge Kahili King. Come join us on the second Saturday of each Month if you can!
